Staffing Structure

During the months of July and August, Camp Cadicasu’s staffing structure consists of two teams; our Support Staff Team and our Seasonal Staff Team.

The Support Staff Team (previously the Senior Staff Team) is primarily responsible for the advanced preparation of camp operations and program, as well as supporting our Seasonal Staff with its successful facilitation. The Support Staff Team staffing period may begin as early as Monday, May 5, 2025 and will extend to Friday, August 29, 2025.

The Seasonal Staff Team is primarily responsible for the deliverance of camp programming, including caretaking assigned campers, running activities and other responsibilities as required. The Seasonal Staff Team staffing period will begin on Sunday, June 29, 2025 and will extend to Friday, August 29, 2025.

Shortlisted candidates will be contacted to schedule an interview. The first round of interviews will be scheduled between Monday, November 4, 2024 – Friday, November 22, 2024, with successful applicants being notified of their application status during the month of December. Any positions that remain vacant will be re-posted in the new year. We will contact unsuccessful applicants to thank them for their interest.

Please note: Successful candidates will be selected not only for their qualifications towards their respective job description, but for their relational-ability and coachability. All employees of Camp Cadicasu must provide a clear criminal record check (including vulnerable sector) dated within the past 2 years, hold an active First Aid certification for the duration of their employment, and will be subject to three (3) reference checks. Additional certifications or references may be required dependent on the position.

Support Staff Team

Kitchen Lead

Camp Cadicasu is looking to hire two (2) Kitchen Leads.

Reporting to the Kitchen Manager, the Kitchen Lead is responsible for leading a team of Kitchen Assistants through the preparation, service and clean-up processes of mealtimes conducted at Camp Cadicasu.

Kitchen Leads will be responsible for ensuring the maintenance of appropriate foodsafe protocols and standards, ensuring timeliness, quality, and nutritional value of meals, and accommodating dietary requirements as advised. Further responsibilities include: providing guidance to servers, supporting inventory management, ensuring the kitchen, its pantry, fridges and freezers are clean, organized and well-maintained.

Kitchen Leads will assist in the training of Kitchen Assistants and/or all respective volunteers, and will maintain clear communications with the Camp Cadicasu administrative team pertaining to all elements of food service.

Leader-in-Training (LIT) Coordinator

Camp Cadicasu is looking to hire one (1) Leader-in-Training Coordinator.

Reporting to the Director of Operations, the LIT Coordinator is responsible for the curriculum development, budget minding and facilitation of all LIT operations.

The LIT Coordinator will intake and review all LIT applications, interview prospective registrants, and permit access as appropriate. The LIT Coordinator will build a program schedule that strikes a healthy balance of the a) Foundations of Leadership, b) Development of Leadership, c) Application of Leadership in accordance with Camp Cadicasu’s three-year model, and the fun and excitement of traditional camp!

The LIT Coordinator will ensure the LIT programming area is in suitable condition, be responsible for managing supplies relevant to the delivery of their programs, and ensure that the Camp Cadicasu heart towards environmental stewardship is maintained close to the centre of their program objectives. The LIT Coordinator will integrate elements of wilderness knowledge into their program that adhere to the outdoor-centric values of Camp Cadicasu. The LIT Coordinator will be responsible for supporting and working alongside a team of LIT Supports, who will execute the program with the intention of graduating employable youth.

Leader-in-Training (LIT) Support

Camp Cadicasu is looking to hire two (2) Leader-in-Training Supports.

In collaboration with the Leader-in-Training Coordinator, the LIT Support is responsible for the successful facilitation of the LIT curriculum. Responsibilities include acting as a full-time oversight to the LIT participants during sessions, activity programming, mealtimes, and sleeping in-cabin as required.

The LIT Support will assist in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of all LIT related facilities and supplies, as well as any areas of Camp Cadicasu in which LIT is assigned to/responsible for. The LIT Support will handle behavourial concerns/camper conflicts with empathy and a resolution-oriented disposition, escalating matters to the LIT Coordinator as needed. The LIT Support will build relationships with youth and instil employable traits that will help them succeed both in and outside of the camp environment, and will work to prepare them for the childcare responsibilities cabin leaders are tasked with. The LIT Support will ensure the schedule and program (as set out by the LIT Coordinator) is adhered to with an emphasis on environmental stewardship and other outdoor-centric values held by Camp Cadicasu.

Maintenance Support

Camp Cadicasu is looking to hire two (2) Maintenance Supports.

Reporting to the Site Manager, the Maintenance Support is responsible for the general upkeep of the Camp Cadicasu facilities.

The Maintenance Support will work consistently to clean the property, its buildings, and common areas/equipment. The Maintenance Support will ensure Camp Cadicasu is guest-ready by being stocked on all necessary supplies, and are accessible considering the landscaping needs of the site.

Responsibilities will include lawn mowing, weed whacking, leaf raking, snow removal (if applicable), various construction projects, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, garbage removal, recycling, assisting with meal service and dishes, bathroom maintenance, bunk-building, painting, window washing, vehicle maintenance, inventory management of tools and related equipment, etc.

Medic

Camp Cadicasu is looking to hire two (2) Medics.

Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Medic is responsible for acting as the first-responder in any illness or injury-related events.

The Medic will ensure health and safety guidelines are up to Camp Cadicasu’s governing body’s standards, and are being respected/adhered to by both campers and staff alike. The Medic is responsible for ordering and maintaining and inventory of all required medical supplies, reviewing camper and staff medical information and managing the intake of medications and/or treatments needed while on camp property. The Medic will be responsible for the daily administration of medications and first aid to campers, staff, and volunteers as needed.

The Medic will keep meticulous records of all instances in which their services were required in Camp Cadicasu’s CampBrain database, and advise all relevant administrative personnel in the event of an emergency and/or instance in which parents/guardians or EMS were contacted. The Medic will have an approachable demeanour and a thorough understanding of the weight of their role, and will ensure the highest privacy and confidentiality standards are upheld as they handle sensitive information. The Medic must be comfortable delegating roles, responding to emergency situations and taking initiative.

Office Support

Camp Cadicasu is looking to hire one (1) Office Support.

Reporting to the Office Manager, the Office Support will assist in managing the incoming phone lines and e-mail inboxes of Camp Cadicasu. The Office Support will act as the primary point of contact for parents and clients alike, handling incoming inquiries with a sense of professionalism and timeliness.

The Office Support will be responsible for managing sensitive documentation, including personal, financial and medical files of Camp Cadicasu campers and clientele. The Office Support will assist in managing registrations and rental bookings in CampBrain software, and complete various administrative tasks as needed. The Office Support will play an instrumental role in the management of Camp Cadicasu’s digital presence, including website maintenance, social media management, and the generation of our weekly send-off video.

The Office Support will assist with printing reports, compiling cabin folders, assign clans/cabins, process financial transactions, edit contracts, liaise with partner organizations and donors, etc.

Out-tripping Coordinator

Camp Cadicasu is looking to hire one (1) Out-Tripping Coordinator.

Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Out-Tripping Coordinator is responsible for identifying and testing hiking/backpacking routes suitable to our camper’s age ranges, skill sets and interests.

The Out-Tripping Coordinator will be responsible for managing all related Out-Tripping equipment, including budget-minding, ensuring backpacking gear is clean, organized and in good working order and repairing/replacing gear when it’s not, and restocking and maintaining supplies. The Out-Tripping Coordinator will ensure all safety subscription services are up to date, man their systems and respond in the event of an emergency.

The Out-Tripping Coordinator will be responsible for supporting and working alongside a team of Out-Tripping Leads (who will be responsible for facilitating the trips pre-planned by the Out-Tripping Coordinator). The Out-Tripping Coordinator will maintain all relevant permits and certifications to be guiding in the Kananaskis Improvement District, and will transport campers and staff alike to/from the trailheads. The Out-Tripping Coordinator will be responsible for the entirety of Camp Cadicasu’s cookout operations.

Out-Tripping Support

Camp Cadicasu is looking to hire two (2) Out-Tripping Supports.

In collaboration with the Out-Tripping Coordinator, the Out-Tripping Support is responsible for adhering to the hiking/backpacking routes outlined for them.

The Out-Tripping Support will be responsible for tending to the physical, emotional and mental wellbeing/needs of the campers in which they are leading, and will be equipped with the necessary knowledge and resources to respond to emergency situations as they may arise. The Out-Tripping Support will stay in consistent communication with the Out-Tripping Coordinator as to their trip status, and will be responsible for facilitating relevant outdoor-centric programming and meal service while on hiking/backpacking excursions.

The Out-Tripping Support will ensure to integrate elements of “leave no trace” principles and other environmental-stewardship practices as in alignment with the values of Camp Cadicasu. The Out-Tripping Support will tailor their excursions to the weather/environment conditions, trail reports and other tangible or intangible factors and be able to pivot effectively for the comfortability and safety of their participants.

Programs Coordinator

Camp Cadicasu is looking to hire one (1) Programs Coordinator.

Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Programs Coordinator is responsible for the advanced planning of all traditional overnight camp programming, including its budget and curriculum development.

The Programs Coordinator will generate weekly themes and endeavour to formulate activities, games and decor to help perpetuate said theme during each week of summer camp. The Programs Coordinator will assist in the training of Cabin Leaders on how to facilitate programming to campers, and will prepare an inventory of supplies and activities that are suitable to a number of varying demographics, age ranges, interests and skill sets.

The Programs Coordinator will promote engagement by curating programming in accordance with weekly camper and staff feedback forms, and will ensure to have effective back-up plans in the event of inclement weather or circumstances beyond their control. The Programs Coordinator will ensure that Camp Cadicasu safety procedures are being adhered to in the delivery of their programs, and will support and work alongside team of Programs Supports to ensure its timeliness, alignment with the values of Camp Cadicasu, and overall satisfaction of our participants.

Programs Support

Camp Cadicasu is looking to hire two (2) Programs Supports.

In collaboration with the Programs Coordinator, the Programs Support is responsible for the effective delivery of Camp Cadicasu programming.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: weekly introductions, spearheading meetings relevant to the daily/weekly program theme, dismissing cabins for meals, leading clan/core games, decorating for the weekly theme dinner, selecting the weekly movie, running campfires, and assisting the Programs Coordinator with maintaining the programming supplies/equipment; ensuring everything is clean, organized and in good working order.

The Program Support will ensure that Camp Cadicasu safety procedures are being adhered to in the delivery of their programs, and will ensure the timeliness of said delivery, do their best to integrate the values of Camp Cadicasu into their activities, and endeavour to ensure the overall satisfaction of both camper and staff participants.

Team Lead – Camper Support

Camp Cadicasu is looking to hire one (1) Camper Support Team Lead (TL).

Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Camper Support TL is responsible for training, leading and supporting a team of Cabin Leaders in facilitating a positive experience for our campers. The Camper Support TL will assist in the preparation of training materials relative to the physical, emotional and mental needs of campers and how to best handle/approach them.

The Camper Support TL will act as the first point of contact during instances in which Cabin Leaders requisition additional support (specifically during instances of behavioural issues, homesickness, cabin unity, camper conflict, etc.). The Camper Support TL will ensure their team is equipped with the necessary resources to handle successes and challenges as they arise, and will work to build relationships with the campers themself as to establish trust and rapport.

The Camper Support TL will assist in leading daily meetings and check-ins, and ensure that camper feedback is relayed to Cabin Leaders in a timely and appropriate manner. The Camper Support TL will model positive and encouraging leadership practices and handle incident reports/disclosure forms with confidentiality and sensitivity.

Team Lead – Specialty Camp

Camp Cadicasu is looking to hire one (1) Specialty Camp Team Lead (TL).

Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Specialty Camp TL is responsible for training, leading and supporting a team of Cabin Leaders in facilitating a positive experience for our campers.

The Specialty Camp TL will be responsible for the preparation of training materials relative to the successful facilitation of the Specialty Camp curriculum. The Specialty Camp TL will be tasked with designing an outdoor-centric program that aligns with the values of Camp Cadicasu, integrating elements such as land-based, wilderness or survival skills.

The Specialty Camp TL will ensure their team is equipped with the necessary resources to execute programming without the traditional means of lodging or programs supplies/activities. The Specialty Camp TL will intake feedback from specialty camp registrants and staff to continuously improve our program structure in hopes of expanding.

Camp Cadicasu is looking to hire one (1) Staff Support Team Lead (TL).

Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Staff Support TL is responsible for training, leading and supporting a team of Cabin Leaders in facilitating a positive experience for our campers.

The Staff Support TL will assist in the preparation of training materials relative to the successful facilitation of Cabin Leading techniques/Camp Cadicasu practices, and will act as the first point of contact during instances in which Cabin Leaders requisition additional support (specifically during instances of interpersonal or interdepartmental conflict, etc.). The Staff Support TL will ensure their team is equipped with the necessary resources to handle successes and challenges as they arise, and will work to build relationships with the staff themself as to establish trust and rapport.

The Staff Support TL will assist in leading daily meetings and check-ins, and ensure that staff feedback is relayed to Admin Staff in a timely and appropriate manner. The Staff Support TL will assist in the curation of staff events and staff culture, and will model positive and encouraging leadership practices.

Team Lead – Team Support

Camp Cadicasu is looking to hire one (1) Team Support Team Lead (TL).

Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Team Support TL is responsible for training, leading and supporting a team of Team Supports.

The Team Support TL will create and manage the schedules of each member of the Team Support team, ensuring they are working effectively and maximising upon the versatility of the role. In conjunction with the Staff Support TL, the Team Support TL will ensure adequate breaks are provided to the Cabin Leading team and that departments that are short-staffed (due to unforeseen circumstances, illness, absences, etc. are tended to as priority).

The Team Support TL will assist with the day to day operations of camp, including but not limited to: programs, maintenance, kitchen work, administrative duties, and cabin leading.

Seasonal Staff Team

Cabin Leader

Camp Cadicasu is looking to hire a team of Cabin Leaders to support the facilitation of all summer camp programs.

Cabin Leaders will participate in Staff Training (June 29, 2025 – July 4, 2025) and learn how to direct a variety of activities (including but not limited to: archery, arts and crafts, assorted sports, campfires, clan/core games, creek time, hiking/backpacking, performing arts, wilderness skills, and more).

Cabin Leaders will live with and lead campers 24 hours a day, from sign-in to sign-out (Sunday afternoon – Friday evening each week during the months of July and August), including all mealtimes and overnight. Cabin Leaders will respond to the physical, emotional and mental needs of campers as they arise. Cabin Leaders are responsible for promoting unity and engagement amidst their campers, and are to act as their primary caregivers during a week of camp. As such, Cabin Leaders are responsible for waking up campers, ensuring they are managing their hygiene, eating an adequate amount (as is normal for that child/youth), are building relationships with other campers/staff, are participating in Camp Cadicasu programs and are having fun/learning new things. Cabin Leaders are responsible for overseeing the free-time of their campers and must ensure respectful boundaries are maintained.

Cabin Leaders are responsible for integrating Camp Cadicasu themes into their daily/weekly program, and will be given adequate opportunity to exercise their own creativity and leadership style into their experience. Cabin Leaders will be provided copies of their camper documents, to which they are expected to read, review and consult in order to best support campers during their time at Camp Cadicasu. Cabin Leaders will be energetic, empathetic and lead by example to motivate and encourage their campers to take part in all aspects of Camp Cadicasu programming. Cabin Leaders will escort their campers off-site during hiking/backpacking out-trips.

Cabin Leaders will typically be the first point of contact for campers to disclose sensitive information to, and are responsible for the appropriate reporting of such instances. Cabin Leaders will complete a myriad of paperwork on behalf of their campers (ie: postcards, starfish awards, feedback forms, etc.) and are expected to communicate effectively with both the Camper Support TL and Staff Support TL regarding ways in which camper or staff needs may need to be addressed.

Cabin Leaders are responsible for upholding a positive culture, especially as it pertains to Camp Cadicasu values such as inclusion and environmental stewardship. Cabin Leaders will regularly look for ways in which to extend hospitality to Camp Cadicasu campers, LITs, volunteers, parents/guardians and clientele.

Cabin Leaders will be responsible for maintaining the Camp Cadicasu facilities by assisting with daily/weekly clean-ups of cabins, shared facilities and the property, including but not limited to: sweeping, mopping, cleaning bathrooms, window washing, restocking supplies, setting up/tearing down the mess hall, maintaining the staff lounge, serving food at mealtimes, putting away craft materials/sports equipment, laundry, etc.

Camp Cadicasu is looking to hire four (4) Kitchen Supports.

Reporting to the Kitchen Lead, the Kitchen Support is responsible for assisting with the preparation, service and clean-up processes of mealtimes conducted at Camp Cadicasu.

Team Support

Camp Cadicasu is looking to hire a team of Team Supports to support the general operations of all summer programming.

Team Supports will participate in Staff Training (June 29, 2025 – July 4, 2025), and will learn the ins-and-outs of each department in which they will be stepping into over the course of the season (including but not limited to: programs, maintenance, kitchen work, administrative duties, and cabin leading).

The Team Support, under the direction of the Team Support TL, will adhere to a schedule which will outline the areas of need, such as stepping into departments that are short-staffed (due to unforeseen circumstances, illness, absences, etc.) and cover breaks as needed.

The Team Support will be an experienced, versatile team-player who thrives in a fast-paced and ever-changing work environment.
