Senior Staff Team

Reporting to the Year Round Team, the Senior Staff Team is Camp Cadicasu’s core leadership team who assists with 1) summer camp programming preparation and facilitation, 2) rental group hosting, and 3) providing oversight to our cabin leaders, kitchen and maintenance staff/volunteers during the months of July/August.

The Senior Staff Team staffing period may begin as early as Monday, May 6, 2024 and will extend to Friday, August 30, 2024.

Medic

The Medic will be responsible for ordering and maintaining all relevant medical supplies, acting as the first-responder in any illness or injury-related events, and ensuring health and safety guidelines are respected and adhered to. Further responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing camper and staff medical information in advance of weekly camps and manage the intake of medications and/or treatments during the sign-in/sign-out process.
  • Daily administration of medications and first aid to campers, staff and volunteers as needed.
  • Recording all medical interactions with campers, staff and volunteers.
  • Acting as the first responder in any medical emergencies, in cooperation with the Year Round Team, emergency responders and parents/guardians as required.
  • Provide input into camp activities to ensure the safety and wellbeing of campers, staff and volunteers is maintained.
  • Other duties as required.
    • Medic must be self-motivated and able to work independently.
    • Medic must comfortable in a leadership role where they are responsible for taking initiative.
    • Medic must maintain exceptional bedside manner.
    • Previous medic experience an asset; active first aid and/or nursing certifications (sp. those in accordance with ACA mandates) required.

Kitchen Assistant

The Kitchen Assistants are responsible for the execution of whatever preparatory, service-based or clean-up directive is provided in order to ensure a smooth meal service for campers and staff alike. Further responsibilities include:

  • Assisting through the preparation, serving and clean-up processes of all meal services conducted at Camp Cadicasu.
  • Maintaining food safety standards and ensuring dietary requirements are accommodated for.
  • Assisting meal preparation and providing guidance to servers.
  • Supporting inventory management.
  • Ensuring the kitchen area is safe, organized, clean, and well-maintained. Ensure all Food Safe protocols are strictly adhered to.
  • Understanding the kitchen schedule and operating procedures.
  • Other duties as required.
    • Previous kitchen experience an asset; Food Safety Certification required (if not presently maintained, Camp Cadicasu will cover the cost of obtaining).

Seasonal Staff Team

Reporting to both the Year Round Team and Senior Staff Team is Camp Cadicasu’s Seasonal Staff Team, who assists with 1) oversight of their assigned campers, 2) facilitation of Camp Cadicasu programming, and 3) interacting with Camp Cadicasu parents, guardians and clientele.

The Seasonal Staff Team staffing period will begin on Monday, June 24, 2024 and will extend to Friday, August 30, 2024.

Cabin Leader

  • Participate in Seasonal Staff Team training and all summer camp programs, including but not limited to: wide games, themed dinner or movie nights, campfires and other events as required.
  • Uphold and adhere to Camp Cadicasu policies (esp. as they relate to child service/care practices, in accordance with ACA standards).
  • Assist in nurturing the positive and environmentally-focused culture of Camp Cadicasu for campers, staff, volunteers, parents/guardians and clientele.
    • Regularly look for ways to extend hospitality and care to campers and guests alike.
    • Anticipate and tend to camper and guest needs as they arise.
  • Live with and lead your campers 24 hours a day, from sign-in to sign-out.
    • Assist in sign-in/sign-out procedure as needed.
    • Be available to give patiently and lovingly to your campers physical, mental and emotional needs.
    • Promote unity among your cabin members and fellow staff.
    • Actively pursue relational culture by spending time with your campers during their free time.
    • Complete weekly camper Christmas/postcards.
    • Ensure a safe environment for your campers by being in your cabin at camper lights out and remaining in your cabin with campers for the duration of the night, unless otherwise scheduled.
  • Work consistently to keep Camp Cadicasu clean and guest ready.
    • Organize your campers to clean your cabin each day.
  • Instruct certain activity sessions in collaboration with the needs of the Programs team.
    • Fully participate in out-trips, leading campers and assisting out-tripping staff to the best of your ability as needed.
    • Lead by example to motivate and encourage campers to be involved in all activities.
    • Support, encourage, and engage fellow cabins as you participate alongside them during activities.
  • Report behavioural or care concerns (with campers) to the Team Leads and liase with Year Round Team as needed.
  • Other duties as required.
